If this is your first visit to this site, here’s a little background on how this all came to be. In the section called Meetings and Conversations, you will find an Introduction and several documents which first saw the light of day a some fifty five years ago. The Introduction was written considerably more recently by Tom, to provide some context for the events covered in the documents that follow.
Bill was present, almost accidentally, that first night in January, 1952. While he was home on leave from the U.S. Air Force, he visited his older brother Tom, who lived in another city while attending university on the GI Bill. He sat in with the group that night, and, although he didn't really understand what he was hearing, he somehow knew it was true. Shortly thereafter he left for an Air Force posting in England, and had no further contact with the speaker or the group that had formed around him.
Thus it wasn’t until twenty years later that he finally “got it.” What Happened? is his attempt to describe that event. “Getting it” eventually resulted in his writing the other pieces bearing his name.
