PHILMONT gpsr WAYPOINT DATABASE
a service of Troop 445, Arlington, Texas
This is an attempt to compile a complete, accurate database of Philmont waypoints for use by crews attending Philmont.  A Global Positioning Satellite receiver (GPSr)  should never take the place of a good map and compass and the knowledge of how to use them.  When the GPSr does work, it only tells you where you are, not where you are going.  When it doesn't work, it is a very expensive, heavy, useless addition to your backpack.

If you have Philmont waypoints you would like to submit, see below for an online submission form.  Source information is included for each waypoint.  This list of waypoints is also available for download either as an EasyGPS .loc file or a G7toWin .g7t file.  Both EasyGPS and G7toWin are free downloadable programs used for waypoint management.

This Excel spreadsheet file contains the entire table listed below, and all waypoints listed in DD MM SS,  DD MM.mmmm, DD.dddd, and UTM.  This file can be manipulated for mapping purposes once saved.

You can submit any waypoint information you collect while at Philmont - campsites, peaks, trail junctions, etc.  Newer waypoints will be added as they are received.

All waypoints submitted will be converted to WSG84 datum and displayed in DD.dddd format using Waypoint Workbench.  Duplicate waypoints will be averaged unless specific details about the waypoint are given.  
*The datum set used to collect the waypoint can be found by checking your GPSr setup.  Almost all GPSr are delivered with WSG84 already selected.
